Vascular Imaging and Mapping

Venous Mapping

Venous mapping is a specialized Doppler evaluation that examines the structure of the veins in the legs, valve function, and the direction of blood flow in detail.

Procedure Duration :

15 - 25 min

It is particularly important before varicose vein treatment to accurately analyze the vascular structure. For patients presenting with leg swelling, pain, heaviness, visible veins, or aesthetic concerns, venous mapping is the most accurate diagnostic method. The procedure is completely painless and typically takes 15–25 minutes.

This examination identifies which veins are affected, whether there is reflux, and how the treatment plan should be developed. Venous mapping is a crucial step for successful varicose vein treatment.

What Symptoms Indicate Venous Problems?

Problems in the venous system often present with:

  • Development of varicose veins in the legs
  • Pain and a feeling of fullness that worsen by the end of the day
  • Swelling (edema)
  • Nighttime cramps
  • Itching or burning sensations
  • Skin color changes or hardening

Venous mapping is performed to accurately determine the source of these symptoms.

To have a detailed analysis of your venous structure and start varicose vein treatment on the right path, you can undergo venous mapping. For information and appointments, please contact our clinic.

During venous mapping, the course, diameter, valve structure, and direction of blood flow in the veins are examined in detail. Veins that are leaking or have lost function are clearly identified. Based on this map, the most suitable treatment—such as sclerotherapy, laser therapy, radiofrequency, or surgery—is planned individually for the patient.

  • Clearly identifies the source of venous problems
  • Ensures treatment is applied to the correct vein and precise location
  • Prevents unnecessary or incomplete treatments
  • Increases treatment success and durability
  • Non-invasive and safe diagnostic method

Venous mapping is a diagnostic examination. No rest is required afterward, and patients can immediately return to their daily activities. Based on the results, a treatment plan is prepared, and follow-up mapping may be performed to monitor progress after the procedure.

  • Individuals with varicose vein complaints
  • Patients planning varicose vein treatment
  • Those who have previously undergone varicose vein treatment but continue to have symptoms
  • Individuals experiencing leg pain, swelling, or circulation problems

This procedure can be safely performed both before and after treatment.
